Ideas for Staying Healthy, Mind and Body

Healthy thinking:

  • Try to focus on the here and now and don’t overthink difficult situations
  • Set aside a dedicated ‘worry time’ to reduce the amount you worry
  • Keep a diary
  • Minimise news intake
  • Minimise exposure to negative social media
  • Disconnect from phone/social media/internet for at least one hour a day

Social activities/Social support:

  • Plan a walk on beach (maintain distance)
  • Facetime friends

  • Call/text friends
  • Online support groups/online therapy

Self Care:

  • Keep a normal sleeping pattern (don’t sleep in too much)
  • Keep up hygiene routines
  • Get up and dressed every day
  • Stay hydrated
  • Get fresh air where possible, in garden/open windows
  • Keep up routines where possible
  • Declutter – Mind and Home!



  • Long hot soak in bath
  • Pamper yourself/others
  • Foot massage
  • Reading
  • Meditation apps/Mindfulness

Pleasant activities:

  • Watch a fun boxset
  • Play board games
  • Paint/draw/colour in
  • Gardening
  • Baking/cooking – try a new recipe
  • Sewing
  • Quality time with family
  • Messy play with children



  • If you have a musical instrument – learn to play it or something new
  • Plan long term goals and how you will work towards them
  • Learn a new skill
  • Learn to cook
  • Teach children or family life skills – changing the oil on the car, decorate, sewing
  • Try to achieve at least one small thing every day
  • All of those things you always say, ‘If i had time’ – do them!


Just because we are ‘self isolating’ does not mean you have to be isolated!
