To apply for a FREE place on any of these courses please click on the course title and a form will appear.  After completing the application form a member of our team will contact you by email to confirm your place, this can take up to 7 days.

Please note that a recharge is in place for course cancellations and no-shows. (£45 per day for no-shows and cancellations made less than one week before a course).

All trainees must attend the entire course to complete the training.

The course is designed to teach people how to support a person developing a difficulty with their mental health or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given to provide comfort and preserve life until appropriate help is received or until the crisis
resolves.

NEW 'PILOT' COURSE

MHFA One Day Intensive Course - Higher Education:

This is an internationally recognised training course designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and provide support on a first aid basis.  In consultation with leading student mental health charity Student Minds, MHFA England has created a course tailored to the Higher Education community.  The course gives a deeper understanding around the issues that relate to student and staff mental health. Participants learn practical skills that can be used every day including how to spot the early signs of mental ill health.

Wednesday 14th March 2018 (1 day) 9.00 am until 5.00 pm and will take place at Teesside University - Middlesbrough

Mental Health First Aid Lite is an introductory mental health awareness course that will enable you to gain a wider understanding of some issues surrounding mental health and how to work effectively with people experiencing mental health problems.

**New Course** A LIFE WORTH LIVING

A Life Worth Living is a course available for people who are living or working in Teesside.

Suicide prevention training is a half day (4 hour) training session which utilises case studies, skills practice and group discussion to enhance the learning process.

Suicide Prevention:

equipping our community with the knowledge and skills to reduce the pain for those of us who are experiencing suicidal thoughts

Learning objectives:

  • to train people who are best placed in the heart of communities to offer support and information to people who are experiencing suicidal thoughts

  • to support local people to identify "a life worth living" and equip local workers and volunteers with the confidence, skills and knowledge they need to offer support and information to a potentially suicidal person, and provide them with the knowledge to signpost to local services and access the relevant pathway of support.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training is a course designed to help people learn how to recognise the signs of suicidal thoughts and how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. The course is designed to help all in communities to become more willing, ready and able to help persons at risk of suicide
